Copy-editing involves intense scrutiny of each word and phrase in a book or publication and provides the final pair of eyes before it is published. My checks include consistency of word choices, readability, coherence, fact-checking, repetition, syntax, punctuation, spelling and grammar; anything that could sound “off”.
I have proofread and/or copy-edited the following books:

How does copy editing work?
We discuss the project you have in mind: length, subject matter, possible deadline, level of editing or proofreading desired and any other requirements.
You send me the file(s) to take a look at.
I send you a free, no-obligation quote, letting you know the price and likely timeframe. Full copy-editing is usually charged by the hour and can be completed at a rate of roughly five pages per hour, while more simple proofreading can be completed a little quicker.
You approve the quote and let me know if any further requirements have arisen.
I get to work, sending any questions to you to ensure we’re on the same page. This will typically involve me working using Tracked Changes and adding comments with thoughts or suggestions.
I deliver the edited file in the format that you wish, and we can discuss any of my queries or comments.
